Dragonflyer Project - Overview
The Dragonflyer Project is a community transport scheme designed to reduce the effect of climate change caused by fossil carbon emissions from car traffic. It is open to commuters living in the vicinity of Bristol International Airport (BIA) who travel regularly to and from Bristol. Residents from the green shaded area on the map are strongly encouraged to consider our scheme.
The project is a partnership between Dragonflyer Mobility Ltd (DML) and Bristol International Airport (BIA) who have allowed us to use the spare capacity on their Bristol International Flyer Express Coach Service as a means of providing Bristol travelers a fast, regular and reliable service into the City for work and leisure. The A38, the route of the BI Flyer, forms the “body” of our “Dragonfly” and we have conceived any number of service “wings” that move people to and from their homes to the airport to connect with the BI flyer. A “wing” might be a pedestrian route, a cycle path, taxi, shared lift or a village bus route
From July 10th the BI Flyer runs 7 days a week from 5am to midnight four times per hour. There are two alternating half hourly services. The 330 (stopping at BIA, Bridgewater Road (King’s Head); Parson Street (jcn West St.); Bedminster Parade; Templemeads and Clifton) and the 331 which has a similar route but goes to the bus station. All services go to Templemeads. Download the new route map, the city centre detailed map and the timetable or go to the BI Flyer Info page.
For more detailed information, take a look at the links down the left of the page.
This service is available now and we have members already traveling on the BI Flyer to and from Bristol..
We will define our service “wings” based on analysis of our travel needs database which has been created from the registration data we continue to gather. The better our knowledge of local transport and travel requirements, the better we can design our “wings” to meet those needs. Consequently, the more registrations, the better.
